Two Mile Hill Primary School Together into the Future

Parent Council

Who are we?

The Parent Council is a group of parents working in partnership with the school to improve learning outcomes for all pupils attending Two Mile Hill Primary.  We aim to support the  school in encouraging parents and carers to share their ideas and views regarding all aspects of school life. We meet every term with a member of the Senior Leadership Team.

What are our aims?

  • To work in partnership with the school to help all parents and carers support their child’s learning at school and at home.
  • To encourage links between the school and parents/carers by providing a two-way means of communication.
  • To assist the school in identifying solutions to various issues which may arise.

Parent Council Membership.

The council is made up of one parent representative from each year group.

Recent Successes.

We are proud of our recent successes.

  • We have been teaming up with Mrs Hore, the Reading Recovery Teacher, to help some Year 3 children with their reading.  This scheme has proved successful and the children have made good progress with their reading.

  • Parent Councillors have assisted the Senior Leadership Team in reviewing the school’s homework policy by sending out a homework questionnaire for parents to complete. As a result of feedback from the questionnaire, homework is no longer given during school holidays.

  • The newly introduced Salad Bar was a direct result of a suggestion from a Parent Councillor.  It has proved very popular amongst the children, as it provides them with more varied choices for their lunches.

  • The L-Bot Award times have been changed due to feedback received by a Parent Councillor from a parent who had been unable to attend the awards.
