There are three classes in Year One: Kingfishers, Woodpeckers and Chaffinch. All three classes are located in the Annexe building.
In year one, we endeavour to continue a Reception ethos for the first part of the year. We make sure that children learn through play and first hand experiences. Children work in groups, in pairs and independently.
We have an outside classroom where children can experience learning English, Maths and physical aspects of the curriculum.
To make our learning engaging, we always begin our topics with an interesting activity in order to capture the children’s interest. At the end of the topic, children are set a challenge that requires them to use what they have learnt.
The exciting topics we will be learning about this year are as follows:
Term 1-Which inventions changed our lives?
Term 2- Move it like a scientist!
Term 3-How well do you know great Britain?
Term 4-Why do we have injections?
Term 5-How green are your fingers?
Term 6 -Could you be a Cartographer?
