Homework

Homework is given out on a Friday and is expected to be handed back in completed on the following Tuesday. Children are given a piece of English and Maths that they are expected to compete each week. The children will bring home a spelling list fortnightly, which will be assessed as a spelling test on the following week, then as part of a dictation on the second week. This will happen every Friday.

Reading

It is expected that each child reads to an adult at least three times a week; each child is provided with a reading record book where you can record any reading done at home. This will be checked by the class teacher weekly. Every child’s reading is listened to on a weekly basis, either individually or during guided reading. The outcome of this is recorded in the teacher’s records and may not be recorded in the child’s individual reading record.

Don't forget our termly reading bingo challenges!!  Once each task is completed, please sign and date for your child as proof of completion.  Then they will receive a reading bingo badge!

Number Race

Children will be tested on their addition and times tables skills three times a week through an activity called Number Race. It would be recommended that you get your child to practice chanting their tables so that they can move through the grid sizes more quickly.

PE

PE kits are needed every Thursday (Sandpipers) and Wednesday (Puffins) and Monday (Goldcrest) . It would be useful to keep these at school.
